How To Achieve The Self-Discipline That’s Necessary For You To Succeed
No matter what kind of home-based business you are trying to grow you have to be very self-disciplined! No one is telling you what to do, because it is YOUR business and you can decide when things have to be done. But it is actually more difficult than most think. You have to train your mind so that you can control it – because if you don’t, it will for sure control you.
The mind has a way of attracting what it wants – it seeks out pleasurable experiences while it avoids the things that are uncomfortable or not as fun. So – if you aren’t in control, you will end up doing a lot of things that your mind wants to, instead of doing the work you need to be doing.
This is the exact reason why I want you to train your mind. Self-discipline is really nothing but a habit, a good habit. You have to learn how to manage your thoughts regardless of any distractions or emotional state. And I will guarantee you that every successful person in this world, have at some point or another developed this self-discipline to get where they are today.
Now, this is not something you do in one day, it takes time to make something a habit. But I will try and push you in the right direction and tell you what to do to in order to become self-disciplined.
How Is Your Mind Working?
You have to realise how your mind is working before you can get in control. Try and observe your mind. You can do this by writing down your thoughts. This is an exercise you should keep doing for a while, but just for about 20 minutes a day. This will certainly give you a good image of what your mind spends your time with.
A Routine Is What You Need
If you don’t want to end up doing all the things you shouldn’t be doing, start creating a routine. Having a routine is a fundamental part of self-discipline! Personally my routine is all about my mornings. When I wake up I go for a run before I eat my fruit-breakfast. After a shower I am energized and ready to start working. When I for some reason don’t start my days this way, I’ll end up being less productive because I don’t feel as organized as normally.
Ever Heard Of A To-Do-List?
For me it makes all the different how I start my days, but what about the rest of the day? Well, to be organized you have to make a to-do-list. Start with the most important thing and end with the least important thing and get started. This way you know exactly what to do and you will not end up doing the things you mind wants to instead of your work.
Reward Yourself!
When I was a child I was always told to do my homework and clean my room before I could go out and play. Back then I thought it was a stupid thing to be told, but actually that is a great thing to keep in mind later in life. Do you think that you would be more productive if something good was to come after having completed your to-do-list? Have something good waiting for you when you are done. It can be anything, going to a movie, taking a nice bubble bath or reading a book while relaxing to some good music. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as it is something that you will enjoy. Believe me, it will feel much better after completing your to-do-list.
Remember – you would want this to become a habit and that will not happen in a week or two – it will perhaps take about 40-60 days, but believe me, it will be worth it! And along with the above, you should have goals! Not goals like “I want to be successful” – smaller goals with timeframes, that is what you should have.
Take the time to become self-disciplined and you will thank yourself later! The moment you have control over your mind, you are your own boss, and you will reach out for success and actually get closer every single day.
