Do you have an iPhone or an iPad?

If you don’t its not really essential, its just that Winnie-the-Pooh comes with iBooks on an iPhone and an iPad, so you could read it if you wanted to, because it turns out that its actually quite the marketing book – it teaches you a lot.

Let me elaborate.

Before you get into the marketing talk, let’s first read from Winnie-the-Pooh, if you turn to page 21 in Winnie-the-Pooh on an iPhone, you’ll see this:

“One day when he was out walking, he came to an open place in the middle of the forest, and in the middle of this place was a large oak-tree, and, from the top of the tree, there came a loud buzzing-noise.

And then he got up, and said: ‘And the only reason for making honey is so I can eat it.’ So he began to climb the tree.”

Can you see how beautiful a marketing lesson this is?

You see some people are just walking around, just like Winnie-the-Pooh and suddenly they hear a buzzing noise. It might now be an actual noise, it could be an image advertisement or something that would get them to stop for a second a think about what it means.

You want to create your marketing in a way that catches your prospects attention, and you do that by speaking in terms they understand and obviously in a place were they are walking (not necessarily walking, but present).

Up until this part pretty much all advertising are done just by the book, but if you want to create successful advertising ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ style, you want to create advertising that makes your prospects climb the tree.

Marketing is not an expense, it’s an investment and it will – if done correctly – bring you a positive return on investment (ROI). Meaning you will get more money out then what you initially put in. However, in order to make sure that happens and to track the ROI of your advertising you want to create direct response marketing ads – create advertising that compels your prospects to climb the tree – right now, get them to take action right away.

It doesn’t matter where you advertise for your business. Always have a clear, strong call to action so you can guide your prospects to take next action that’s in their best interest. It might be to visit your website or to download your free report, or to sign up for your product or service or to join you in business, whatever the next step in the process is – tell them very clearly what the next step for them is and what they can expect when they take that next step (get them to instantly climb the tree).

When I started in the network marketing industry I did exactly what I was told to do. I dragged my friends and family members to hotel meetings, I invited folks to home meetings, I presented one-on-one, I did 3-way calling.

The result. ZERO. NADA. Nothing. Nill. Nobody. A pathetic downline consisting of one distributor – my girlfriend.

Not the way to grow my business…. obviously.

The problem was not only the way I presented but the message I presented as well – the approach with ‘Let me show you how you can make a lot of money’, that didn’t work very well for me because I didn’t make any money, so there was no credibility in my presentation.

When you start to make money your friends and family will follow, they’ll start to ask questions and become interested in what you’re doing.

So you see I didn’t get any results for two reasons, the message (my presentation) and the medium I used (hotel meetings, 3-way calling etc.)

Increase Your Results Significantly By Changing The Medium And The Message

The message you should use depends on what type of product or service you are offering, if you’re in health and wellness and you’re focusing on loosing weight you should talk to people with an interest in loosing some weight – not your friends and family who are not very interested in such topic and don’t share any particular interest in weightless.

What you should say to the people you talk to who have an interest in loosing some weight should be in regards to getting the benefits of the products and getting the products for free (if they become a distributor and they start to make some money, they will get the products for free when the money they get from the company exceeds the price for the products). This way they will become a happy customer of the products and a “good” ambassador for the product – because they are using the products themselves and they (hopefully) love them.

The medium you should use when you present your opportunity and your products or services should be something that does not limit you such as a one one one presentation or a 3-way call does it. I suggest you invite people to a teleconference call that you host and you present the benefits of the products on this call and talk about how they can get the products for free by becoming a distributor. You can also host a webinar online.

So to sum it all up. Target your audience. Only talk to people with an interest in the benefits of your products or service in the beginning when you don’t have any credibility in regards to making money with the opportunity. Change the message so it focuses on the benefits of the products or services and how someone can get them for free by becoming a distributor and finally share your message via a teleconference line or by hosting a webinar online.

When trying to grow a home based business you are faced with several obstacles on your success-journey. It’s unavoidable. Everybody face obstacles. Everybody has to “suffer” before they can break through and reach the levels of success they desire.

So if obstacles are unavoidable, it’s not about not ever facing a roadblock on your road to riches, it’s all about what you do when you hit a roadblock.

I think it was Michael Masterson who once said something along the lines of:
“Embrace obstacles that’s when you have the opportunity to leave your competitors behind.”

This makes so much sense to me. When you’re having trouble with growing your business take a step back and realize that you’re about to have a breakthrough if you don’t quit – eventually your mind will find the answer to overcoming the obstacle in front of you.

One big problem networkers are facing today is traffic and getting people to sign up in their business. So in other words the two major obstacles are:

Traffic and Recruiting

I recently found a REALLY cool solution. It has something to do with Facebook and how you can tap into the 600+ million users on Facebook and a way for you to present your business, that will almost guarantee a zero rejection rate.

In other words it handles both traffic and recruiting.

I’ve found that many marketers are struggling to grow their business because they constantly are searching for a ‘magic pill’.

The ‘magic pill’ syndrome comes in many variations, if you are trying to grow your business online and you need more traffic you could be looking for the magic traffic technique.

What I used to do was exactly that, always receiving emails with new products to purchase and brand new techniques that would change everything and bring hordes of traffic to my website.

Unfortunately, the results were not that great most of the times. But that wasn’t necessarily because the techniques didn’t work. I just didn’t see results anything close to what was promoted on the salespage.

In fact, my business endeavor didn’t really take off before I realized that I was focusing my energy in all the wrong places.

I was trying to do too many tasks at the same time. I was spreading my self to thin. Don’t do what I did, pick something that aligns with your personality and with your business plan and strategy, and focus on just one activity at the time.

Don’t invest your time, money and energy in all the different strategies, tactics and techniques you are getting exposed to on a daily basis. The only reason the guy or gal promoting a particular tactics and are having great success with it, is because they stayed with that one technique until they got it…until they mastered it.

You will not find your answer to your business problems in any course; you cannot find the answer to becoming successful by getting advice from your favorite mentor.

You can overcome your obstacles on your journey to success a lot faster if you have a mentor who can guide you, no doubt about that.

But your real mentor…

The one you should always listen to…Is no one else than…

Yourself

Yes, you should definitely be the captain of your ship. Take responsibility of all your actions (or lack of action-taking) and the results you are getting from your business (or a lack of results).

I’m not saying you shouldn’t have a mentor or buy products or seek advice and guidance.

You should absolutely seek out advice, tactics, and techniques from successful entrepreneurs, but you should always make sure the tactic you are considering engaging in is aligned with your current activities. And you should always think about your problem and how to overcome it before spending money on some ‘magic pill’ solution.

You will always face challenges on your journey to success. No matter who you are and how successful you’ve become – new challenges arrive. The universe will challenge you and your business, not just in the beginning. But if you are persistent and you embrace your obstacles as challenges you will find a way to overcome them…every time.

If you are struggling with finding prospects to talk to and you quit because you couldn’t find anybody who had any interest in your business, the universe knows that you are not worthy of success and because you quit you will never experience the sweet life with the residual income coming your way each and every month.

Start to embrace your obstacles as temporary challenges. If you overcome this challenge, you are deemed worthy of getting to the next level in your business.

So how do you actually do it, how do you overcome and find a solution to your challenges each and every time?

You become resourceful instead of blaming your lack of resources for this pitiful situation and irritating challenge.

You are more resourceful than you might think, your brain is capable of finding solutions, in fact it’s programmed to find solutions. You just need to ask the right questions.

If you ask better questions, you get better results.

No one will ever agree to create a song feat. them as long as you are not as successful as they are and both parties can equally benefit from the agreement.

You most likely know the unofficial inner circle or at least some of the big names online when it comes to attraction marketing. Would it be a good idea to have one of the influential guys or girls join you in your business?

YES! You bet!

It’s not only a brilliant idea it would most likely be insanely profitable for you too.

Think about the influence these guys have online, and they already have a huge email list they can send an email to about your business opportunity.

WOW. Can you imagine? I see a possible instant Top 40 hit coming.

I’m sure you can imagine how great it would be for you to recruit a big dog, and that’s why some marketers are pitching like a mad man to these big dogs – or even some of the smaller online guys or girls.

QUIT WASTING YOUR TIME

Don’t waste their time with your business opportunity, please. Let me ask you something. Why should they join your company? What’s so special about this opportunity?

Okay… I’ll buy whatever you answered, I’m confident your company IS great.

Why should they join YOU?

Do you have an answer? Forget about your company, forget about what you answered in the previous question. Why YOU? Why not join someone else? Why not contact the founders of the company and get involved that way? Why should someone join YOU?

What do you bring to the table?

If you have an answer to this question you really wouldn’t need to waste your time hoping and dreaming about recruiting anybody else to take care of you. You could take care of yourself and having someone join your organization would just be a great benefit, not a necessity for success.

You absolutely have to take responsibility of your own success. Create whatever you need to become successful and one day the guys you once dreamed about sponsoring will come to you for advice, a partnership, a JV deal or maybe just a nice friendly conversation.

You do not gain anything from pitching your business to someone online. If you are going to pitch someone think about what you have to offer, what you can bring to the table and show them why it will be THEIR LOSS not to partner up with you – not your loss!

Make it a reality that they will actually miss out on a top 40 hit record. Not by telling them but by talking massive action on your own so they realize that you are serious and you are going places and if they do not join you in your business endeavor they will in fact miss out on a fantastic opportunity to co-create something great.

Trust me if you can show someone with influence online how they can benefit from collaborating with you, they will be all ears. Until then – you don’t get a voice. They don’t want to join some special company and definitely not join you (assuming you are desperately pitching your opportunity), they will find other people with influence and figure out how they can collaborate with likeminded people, equally knowledgably and equally successful entrepreneurs.

Stop wasting your time pitching to other “gurus” online and go to work and create something amazing and grow your business yourself, not depended on anybody else.

YOU should be the biggest contributor to your own success.

I don’t know if there’s a universal law that states something like this but trust me – you simply HAVE TO if you want to become successful, otherwise the universe will not let you have what you aspire to acquire.
