When trying to grow a network marketing business one of the fastest way to sign up new distributors is to attract other struggling network marketers to you and position yourself as an attractive leader. This concept was termed attraction marketing by Mike Dillard and it has literally taken over the online space in the online network marketing industry. After MyLeadSystemPro was released back in 2008 thousands of networkers have embraced the attraction marketing concept and today you cannot do a search on the Internet and not find Mike Dillard and his attraction marketing and the MLSP system being promoted.

Don’t get me wrong, many networkers had already embraced the concept and followed Mike Dillard’s training, but the MLSP system made it possible for anybody to have a website up and running and attracting leads in no time and the best part was that you kept all the leads to yourself.

Stay focused, stay with your choice of traffic generation tactic just a little longer then most of your competitors and you will yield tremendous results.

Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, created a website called Facemash on October 28, 2003, the predecessor of Facebook. Mark was going to school at Harvard University and he hacked into their database and took all the photos of the students at Harvard and uploaded them all to Facemash.

Personally I didn’t recruit a single distributor from my warm market list when I started and I know that most people struggle to sign up distributors from their warm market as well. I got educated on marketing and especially online marketing and I started to generate leads online, the majority of my leads were coming from Google Adwords. I paid when somebody clicked on my ad on top or the right-hand side of the Google results – the searcher from google.com visited my website, a squeeze page, where they could learn more about something that I knew had their interest all they had to do was sign up for my email newsletter.

I wasn’t very good at Google Adwords when I started advertising on the network, but I bought a ton of courses, e-books and even personal coaching on the subject – because that’s what one must do to overcome challenges…get educated and take massive action! That’s what I did – and I became an expert or at least very skilled on the subject.  I even took the Google Adwords certification course – yes I am an official Google Adwords certified “expert”. I read all the training material Google have on Adwords and took the exam. I scored 91% in the certification exam, which is better than the average score inside Google headquarter. However, today I don’t use Google Adwords AT ALL for my network marketing endeavors. Google kicked me (and everybody else in network marketing) out in the cold.

Google Adwords is DEAD to network marketers!

Google and I (and the entire mlm industry) are not that good “friends” or business partners to this day. You see all those hours of training, all the money spent on Adwords education is not helping me generate leads in the network marketing industry.

My lead flow dramatically decreased – so did my revenue stream. It is no fun to have a business one day and the next day you wake up you don’t have a business – it sucks big time, trust me!

I had to figure out new ways to generate leads, so I applied some of my search engine optimization knowledge to some of my websites and saw lead flow increase – but nothing close to what Google Adwords previously had provided.

I then got an idea and started a new blog.

The idea was simply to dominate one keyword at a time. The first keyword I wanted to test was “Herbalife Scam”. I found that if a domain name was the keyword phrase somebody was searching for it was ranking really high in Google’s search results with very little search engine optimization effort.

I figured that “Herbalife Scam” was a good keyword to target to attract network marketers who was looking for information on how to grow a network marketing company. I assume that people searching for “Herbalife Scam” on google.com are people looking for information on Herbalife and the majority probably wants to learn how to successfully grow a network marketing business.

I created this blog at herbalifescam.org and wrote some articles on how to grow a Herbalife business and network marketing tips in general and even some reviews on Herbalife International – nothing negative about Herbalife! Well, actually I did say that the majority does not make money by following the company’s training and advice…but other than that – nothing negative. I didn’t say that it was a scam; Herbalife is a great business opportunity and a legit business!

I offered visitor a video on how to grow a Herbalife business if they entered their email. In other words, I generated leads. Once again I was generating leads, I was back on track, but then I got an email just 5 days ago from Herbalife International’s legal / brand protection department and I had to take down the website

I screwed up!

This is the email I received and I had to kill my new lead generation source.

I didn’t know that I couldn’t use “Herbalife” in a domain name, and actually I think it was the combination, having “Herbalife” and “Scam” in the domain name. This might associate the Herbalife business with a scheme or a scam – which is not the case and not my intention. It was just a good keyword to target because it got a lot of searches and people would be interested in what I had to offer.

So once again, my lead source got taken away from me. Damn it! To be honest even though the keyword phrase ‘Herbalife scam’ gets 8100 searches each months on google.com and it would have been nice to get some of that traffic, I have to admit that it would have required hard work to get the website to the top position in google.com. I could do it! I know I could have done it. It was just a matter of time and hard work. But this would only have been for Herbalife scam searchers, what about all the other network marketing companies. I planned to set up websites for them as well, and trust me that would have been HARD WORK.

I’m not that pleased with having to do hard work. I like short cuts and fast results and instant gratification so why not just go where the traffic is and one can tap into it with no hard work involved. Stop wasting time trying to optimize Google Adwords, stop wasting time writing tons of articles, creating websites, getting backlinks, writing blog posts and all that stuff and just go where the prospects are instead and get people who would have an interest in your business to take a look at what you have to offer instead of bugging uncle Joe.

Oh.. and I’m actually not going to stop doing article marketing or writing blog posts or stop getting backlinks or SEO or PPC or SEM or any of the lead generation activities we are currently doing and you should be doing all of these as well, but if you are just getting started with online lead generation you should focus on one traffic source at a time and I recommend you start with the BIGGEST traffic source in the world.

If you are in a home based business and particular in a network marketing business, you are probably not going to enjoy this message. But it’s a FACT…!!

Lead generation alone will NOT grow your business. The average networker seems to believe that:

“If I could just find people who are ready to sign up in a network marketing business I’ll find success” -The Average Networker

You are not going to grow your business because you find people to talk to – IF you don’t know what to say to your prospects.

Online Lead Generation Rocks, make no mistake about it and you should absolutely be using the Internet to bring prospects to your doorstep.

But be aware, leads you’ve generated yourself is not necessary any better than a lead you buy.

So how do you harvest your online lead generation effort best possible..?

You lead with the product…and close with the opportunity.

A lot of the MLM Online Lead Generation Gurus, you know what I’m talking about the Attraction Marketing Guru’s gives you B.S. advice when it comes to growing your business. And please do not get me wrong, some of the Gurus really are Gurus and have solid advice to give you.

Let’s talk about the word Guru for a second, what is a guru really? The literal definition of a guru is “from dark to light.” They give advice and teach other people in their field of expertise.

What is more important to the MLM Guru, a following, or is it okay to have some people turn their back on them (hit the back button on their Internet browser)?

If the case happens to be that the MLM Guru are more concerned about the following and to have a large audience or “fans”, the content of the teaching becomes dependent on what the audiences want to hear. That is not mentoring, giving good advice or teaching – that is entertaining!

It is unfortunately a total waste of your time and you are going to hit a wall and not getting the results you hoped.
